Nouakchott Deferred
Mauritanian Lily
My trip to Africa has been delayed a month which means I'll leave early in March. Because of this I'd like to extend the Sew Giving Bee another month which makes the ending date February 29th. A huge thank you to all the lovely people that have sent their handmade baby blankets, the notes have been very touching to read.
Nouakchott, Mauritania
Nouakchott is a coastal city on the west coast of Africa. The first week or so of my trip will be spent here and then we will be off to the desert.
The desert in Mauritania is beautiful with it's many faces; from rolling dunes, flat sand scapes and Savannah's. We stopped at this little encampment when I was there last. The camels were milked and we then drank some very fresh warm milk out of a wooden bowl.
Baby Blankets can be sent to: Barakah Life PO Box 4466 Hayward, CA 94541

I really wish I had come across you sooner, I cannot knit and have a blanket arrive to you in time for your deadline, but I will start on one in the hope that someone will make this (or a similar) trip in the future. Well done, and I hope you have a safe trip. Much love

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister,
Lovely pictures, masha'Allah! I would love to hear how your trip goes :)
Jazak'Allah for letting us know about the extension, I've changed that on my blog so others know.
Wa'alaykum as-salaam

I just dropped my blanket in the mail today before I saw that the deadline was extended! I would have packaged it a prettier fashion, but hey at least it should get there in one piece. I forgot to include a note to the recipients, but you can just send my affection and hopes for comfort and health. Kudos to you and this project!
